Q: How long do the summer sessions last?
A: Each summer session is 6 days long (Monday through Saturday) Monday through Friday sessions go from 9am - 3pm. The Saturday session is a full dress and tech rehearsal for the Showcase Performance.
Q: What if I am unable to pick up my child by 3:00pm?
A: You're in luck! We offer after-hours care until 5:00pm. During this time, students are able to continue to play theatre games and rehearse, or they can simply relax and enjoy a movie in our state-of-the-art screening room. This is available for an additional $20/day
Q: Does my child need to bring a lunch?
A: Yes. We do not provide lunches, but will provide a light snack in the afternoon. Students will need to have their lunch when they check in with a parent or guardian and we will keep it in a cooler until lunch time.
Q: Does my child need any to bring any specific items or wear certain clothing?
A: Students do not need to bring any particular items, but we do suggest they bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing they can move in and close-toed shoes. Each student will be given a t-shirt at the end of the sessions.
Q: What exactly will my child be doing?
A: Depending on their experience or age level, students will engage in a number of theatre activities. Beginners will start with learning the basics of theatre, including stage direction, terminology and warm-up games. Advanced students will engage in more in-depth lessons and activities. Both groups will have hands-on learning in all aspects of theatre including both performance and technical work. Q: Does my child get to perform?
A: Yes! All sessions culminate with a showcase performance on the Flagstar Strand Theatre's Grand Stage.
This performance is open to the public, so bring your friends and family to see what the students have learned!
