About the Event

Please join us for an evening of people telling their stories through music, poetry, storytelling, art or otherwise! Stages of Stories is an event where we open our stage to let people tell their stories in a variety of ways.   This evening, we are celebrating people from the LGBTQIA+ community. We are hosting this event on Tuesday, June 28th to honor the  anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.  This open mic style event will take place in the restaurant venue for the Flagstar Strand Theatre Located at 8 N. Saginaw. Due to turnout, we may move to a different space in our building.

Who should come:

  • People who want to tell their stories!
  • People who want to make people feel heard.
  • All Ages welcome.

Who should participate and why:

This evening is designed for people from the LGBTQIA+ community to tell stories that are important to that experience. These do not  need to be coming out stories, but coming out stories are welcomed. Stories about being an ally are also welcomed.

The stories we have inside us make us who we are. The act of sharing these stories creates connection.   You are important.  Your story is important and it should be heard.

Wanting to share your story/song/poem/skit?  Wonderful! We are excited to have you. Aim for no longer than 12 minutes.  We are only able to provide a single microphone and speaker. If you want to share your story, but do not want to speak in front of the group, we will have a designated reader available. Please do not feel like your story has to be "perfect".  If you have any questions, please contact Jen Luke at jluke@flagstarstrand.com
